Welcome to Daisy Bates Elementary School where GREATNESS LIVES, EXCELLENCE IS ELEVATED AND EVERY CHILD MATTERS, EVERYDAY!  At DBES, we proudly uphold and walk in the legacy of civil rights activist, journalist and trailblazer, Mrs. Daisy Lee Gatson Bates.  We are a "school on the move" that's "beating the odds"  with increasing student achievement, decreasing opportunity gaps, cultivating 21st century skills and producing contributing members of the global community. We are grateful for our village of families, friends and community organizations who partner with us everyday on this amazing educational journey.  Looking forward to continuing these partnerships this year as well as expanding them as we seek to provide limitless learning opportunities for our scholars.  At DBES, we are Grooving and Growing in Excellence all the way to the top!!!

LaRisha Nelson began her educational career with PCSSD in 2012 and has been in education for 14 years. Throughout her educational career, she’s served as a classroom teacher, an instructional coach, and presently, as Daisy Bates Elementary School’s Interim Assistant Principal. Mrs. Nelson has a BS in Early Childhood Education from Philander Smith College, a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from UALR, and an Ed.S in Principalship from ASU. She has been married for 19 years to Mr. Cody Nelson Sr. and they have 3 children. 

Mrs. Nelson is truly honored and humbled for the opportunity to serve as an educational leader at her school and PCSSD. She is looking forward to an amazing year of “Elevating the Excellence” with the Tigers.
