2018-2019 Title I Parent Compact

Daisy Bates Elementary School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title 1, agree that this compact outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards. This School-Parent Compact is in effect during the 2018-2019 school year.
The staff at DBES agrees to:
Provide frequent assessments and continuous feedback on how your child is progressing academically.
Seek cooperation from parents to work as partners in the school.
Provide a safe and orderly school environment that is conducive to learning.
Offer activities for parents to meet with the teachers and staff.
Show respect to families and to each other.
Communicate high expectations for every student.
Enforce rules equitably and involve students in creating a warm and caring learning environment.
As a DBES parent, I agree to:
Make sure my child is on time and prepared for the school day. I will send a note each time my child misses school to explain the absence.
Communicate with teachers to follow my child’s progress.
Attend conferences at the end of the first and third quarters.
Monitor my child’s homework and make sure study time is in a quiet place.
Help my child to accept consequences for negative behavior and to recognize their positive behavior and good work.
Read and retain a copy of the PCSSD Handbook and the DBES handbook.
Check with my child daily for useful information sent home from school.

As a DBES student, I agree to:
Allow the teacher and staff to help me work through my problems. I will ask if I don’t understand what is expected of me.
Take responsibility for my learning by completing classwork and homework.
Observe and obey school and classroom rules.
Be respectful to others and to myself.
Share all papers, assignment notebook, and other forms of communication with my parent and return signed materials to my teacher.
Take part in class discussions without being disruptive.
Be prepared to learn and participate with necessary supplies.
